Lichtenstein Recreation ↓
For this project we had to create our own Lichtenstein portraits using a photo of our face and the various tools in Adobe Illustrator. We first had to outline all of our features with the pen tool, which was very time consuming and had to be done in close detail because the lines could not be curvy. Once everything was outlined, we had to add in colors that matched our own colors. I then created a dot swatch to put over my skin to create the famous Lichtenstein look. To finalize it, I changed the strokes of different lines to make certain features stand out more than others. For example, I put a lot of stroke on my eyes because I wear eyeliner. I also put heavy strokes in my hair to show that my hair wasn't a completely solid piece because in person it's not like that at all. After I finished creating me, I chose to create a detailed background of a city. I made buildings in the form of a skyline using the pen tool. I then shaded one of them in with shadows to make it more realistic. On top of the background I added a text bubble and included a quote from my favorite show, Gossip Girl. As I was doing this project I ran into a lot of trouble. I had a lot of issues with the Adobe Illustrator program. I wasn't able to save properly and therefore I couldn't properly edit my piece. Also, I found myself constantly changing my piece in order to ensure it looked like a true Lichtenstein. The hair and the facial features were done over multiple times until I finally got the look that I wanted. Overall though, my Lichtenstein came out, in my opinion, very good, and as close to a true Lichtenstein as I could get.
